Wildwood Botanical Body & Massage Oil | 4 fl oz
Rich botanical care, grown from the mountain up.
Dry skin is more than a cosmetic nuisance. Our skin is the largest organ of the body and our first protective barrier against the outside world. When that barrier becomes dry and depleted, skin can feel tight, rough, weathered, or simply uncomfortable.
Wildwood was created for those moments when skin asks for something richer.
The most substantial oil in our Mountain Botanical Body Oils collection, Wildwood begins with calendula flowers, plantain leaf, violet leaf, and chickweed grown organically or responsibly wildcrafted here on our mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
The plants are harvested in small batches, carefully dried, and then given time.
Rather than simply blending carrier oils and adding fragrance, we return to an older apothecary tradition: slowly infusing whole botanicals into oil with gentle, controlled heat so the plants themselves become part of the finished preparation.
Each batch of Wildwood undergoes a seven-hour slow heat infusion, allowing the botanical material to steep gradually into a nourishing blend of high-oleic sunflower, jojoba, sweet almond, and castor oils.
There is something wonderfully old-fashioned about the process. No rushing. No artificial fragrance trying to imitate a field or forest. Just dried botanicals, carefully selected oils, gentle warmth, and seven unhurried hours.
Seven hours later, what began as individual herbs and carrier oils has become Wildwood: a rich, silky botanical body oil with a soft, generous glide and the subtle color and aroma of the plants themselves.
High-oleic sunflower, jojoba, sweet almond, and castor oils help soften the feel of dry skin and leave it feeling supple and conditioned, while the infused botanicals give every batch its own natural character.
Massage Wildwood onto slightly damp skin after bathing, when a little moisture is still present on the skin, or spend extra time with hands, elbows, knees, legs, and feet that tend to feel especially dry or weathered.
FROM OUR MOUNTAIN
Our botanicals are not chosen from a catalog simply because they sound appealing on a label.
Whenever possible, they begin here.
Calendula is tended and harvested by hand. Plantain, violet, chickweed, and other familiar mountain plants are grown or responsibly gathered in season, then carefully dried and stored until it is time for them to enter the Little Cauldron and become part of a new batch.
Working this way means Wildwood may never look exactly identical from one harvest to the next. The shade may deepen. The natural botanical aroma may shift slightly. The plants themselves change with the seasons.
We consider that part of the beauty of genuine small-batch botanical work.
EXPLORE THE COLLECTION
Wildwood is one of four oils in our Mountain Botanical Body Oils Collection.
Meadow is our lighter everyday blend, featuring calendula, clover, chamomile, and yarrow.
Ember is a richer massage oil with ginger, calendula, and cayenne, inspired by the warm colors of autumn on the mountain.
Stillwater is our quiet evening blend, featuring lavender, lemon balm, chamomile, and catnip.
Each oil has its own character, but all four are created using the same small-batch, seven-hour slow heat infusion process and contain no added fragrance or essential oils.
